Thomas Lewis, Jr. moved to Mississippi circa 1814 after the death of his father. He went with six of his siblings, most of whom settled in the Lauderdale County area. He died in MS in 1870. The names of the following children come from the book entitled, "William Lewis, Jr. of Black River, NC" by Mr. Claude S. Lewis of Sampson County, NC. US Census data from Lauderdale County indicates that there is some dispute over the exact number and names of this Thomas Lewis's children. From analysis, it is apparent that Thomas had to have married twice. The name of his first wife is not currently known. |
