Necy (or Nicy, Neecy) Lewis was born in Sampson County or Duplin County, NC around 1808-1810 and died June 6, 1886 in Bullock County, AL. Necy first married Polly Ricks (daughter of Jesse Ricks and Sarah ?) who apparently died young (circa 1835). Necy then married Rebecca Eason Thigpen (born June 5, 1820 in Duplin County, NC, died May 17, 1886 in Bullock County, AL) circa 1836 in Barbour County, AL. Necy and Rebecca are buried in the Lewis Family Cemetery near Midway, in Bullock County, AL. Rebecca was the daughter of Rev. Joseph J. Thigpen and Clara Eason. If anyone has ANY information on these folks, please contact me at the address shown on the first page of this website. All help is greatly appreciated. |

Necy (or Nicy, Neecy) Lewis witnessed the will of Nathan King, made in Cumberland County, NC, 19 August 1829, admitted to probate March term 1834, recorded in Book B of Wills, p. 235. The will is abstracted in Lepine, Mrs. Kate James and Sherman, Mrs. Anna, "Will Abstracts, Cumberland County, North Carolina, 1754-1863" (Katana Co., 1984) p. 83, where the name is give as "Nuy Lewis" and this statement is made: "All witnesses were 'removed from this state' and the handwriting was proved by Escl. [sic] Arnald and Joshua Jones." This information was provided by William D. King of Jacksonville, FL - who is diligently trying to locate anyone who has any information on Necy Lewis - all help is greatly appreciated. |
