This John B. Lewis shows up as one year old in the 1850 US Census for Robeson County, NC - in the household of Rebecca Lewis (age 45) - apparently his father had already died. His parents were James Lewis and Rebecca Bracey of Robeson County, but the Author cannot ascertain "which" James Lewis was his father. The bondsmen for their marriage record were William Lewis and James Small, with S.D.H. Howell as a witness. They were married in Robeson County on December 6, 1845.

The Author believes that the most likely lineage for James Lewis would be that he is a previously unknown son of Aaron Lewis and Rhoda Faulk - originally of Marion County, SC, but who moved to Robeson County, NC in the early 1800s. The other possibility is that his parents could be James Lewis (brother of Aaron) and Edith Waters, also originally from Marion County, SC, but moved to Robeson County, NC in the early 1800s. Both of these Lewis men have been heavily researched yet no one has identified a son named James so far - but, this could merely be an oversight.

John B. Lewis and Edde Johnson moved to Marlboro County, SC (Brightsville Township) and settled for the remainder of their lives. Both are buried in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, SC.
