The Descendents of George Washington Lewis and Lydia Anna Hewett

George Washington Lewis left Carteret County, NC around 1850 and came to Brunswick County, where he married Lydia Anna Hewett that same year. George and Lyida settled near present-day Supply, NC, in Lockwood Folly Township. He served in Galloway's Company of the NC Coast Guards (CSA) during the Civil War.

George Washington Lewis was born 4/20/1826, died 12/30/1895, and is buried next to Lydia Anna Lewis in the Sharon Church Cemetary near Boone's Neck in Brunswick County. Lydia Anna Hewett was born 3/27/1824 and she died 1/23/1913. All of their eight children were born in Brunswick County, NC.

Together, they founded a dynasty of Lewises in Brunswick County, NC that continues today.
