Charles Lewis, Jr. and his wife Martha Morrall settled in what is present-day Horry County, SC in 1754. Charles, Jr. was born 9/9/1715 and died in 1770. Charles helped to lay out the Georgetown Road to the Cape Fear, NC area (New Hanover County) in 1756. This Charles Lewis was also a Justice of the Peace in Craven County in 1756. Evidence of his and Martha's descendents continues in Horry County today. Some of their descendents moved on to Georgia, Alabama, and Texas in the early 1800s. | ||||
